Three things to know on the Florida Gators Spring Game…
1. Is Luke Del Rio ready? He went 10-11 with two touchdowns. But a close look as his numbers raises some questions. Del Rio’s pass attempts traveled an average of 7.0 yards through the air, easily the lowest average among the four quarterbacks who played. Five of Del Rio’s completions did travel 10+ yards through the air, but keep in mind that the completion percentage was a little skewed in this game due to the ease of the passes.
2. Overall the offensive line was very shaky, allowing six total sacks. But the key starters fared well. Left tackle David Sharpe played a perfect game, not allowing a single pressure on 24 pass-block snaps. Fred Johnson, competing for the job at right tackle, also played a clean game on 24 snaps.
3. Is Bryan Cox ready to take his game to another level? Cox generated four total QB pressures in the spring game (three hurries, one sack). Cox had just 3.5 sacks in 2015, so a significant boost in production would be welcomed addition to the Gators defense.
